Day 19- Colorado: AF Academy, Olympic Training Center

Day 19- Colorado: AF Academy, Olympic Training Center

Hey from the Happy group for the last time L. This morning we were woken up at 5:27 by the beautiful sound of banging pots and pans by the counselors John and Kent. We loaded our vehicles to head to our first sightseeing stop of the day: the Air Force Academy. Many that were riding the bus were able to sleep until around 8. They were then treated with bagels and cream cheese with bananas.  It was delicious but many of us were still missing out on a nice home-cooked breakfast. We then stopped at a rest area in Lusk, Wyoming where Dallas and others played on the playground! Up next was the Daily Dallas Download on the bus; today’s song choice was a rap song about keeping up with our backpacks.  You could say our lost and found has gotten too big.  Then, it was time for the LCLCLC (Luke and Caleb’s Low-key Cool Logic Convos) show. First they started off with embarrassing but hilarious poop stories, stories about ex girlfriends, and then finally Dallas decided it was time to auction off some candy with counselor trivia! Questions were asked about topics ranging from the names of their family members, jobs, to where each counselor had their first kiss.

In other news, there is a new game going around on all vehicles called “Safety”. This is the brainchild of Caleb B. and Luke S.  When someone farts, they must say the word “safety” and own up to it. If they do not say “safety” and someone else smells or hears said fart, a person will yell  “DOORKNOB” and the farter will get punched (lightly) until they touch a doorknob.  We aren’t sure where they get this stuff, but we are happily entertained by all of it.

Next, we stopped at a Flying-J. Unfortunately, Caleb B. was having some serious stomach problems and kept repeating the term “TTC”- if you know, you know. After watching (and laughing at) Caleb run into the bathroom many bought Cinnabon, chicken tenders, and pizza. On Ms. America, Walker P. dropped the gallon jug of water spilling half of it onto the carpet flooring. Great job, Walker!

Once again, many fell asleep on both the bus and vans. Even counselor Kent passed out in Mackenzie H.’s seat and used her pillow! She was a little grumpy about it but it was okay… nobody likes a cranky Kent.

Around 2 pm, we finally arrived at the Air Force Academy! Everyone took a quick restroom break and went down to the beautiful chapel to take a look inside. We learned that there were multiple churches within the chapel. Some of the girls (and maybe a few guys) were a little let down that we couldn’t find a cadet to kiss on the cheek for good luck. But lo and behold, right as everyone was leaving the gift shop, Maddy H. and Olivia M. saw a cadet who was willing to wait patiently and get kissed on the cheek by 50 teenagers! Everyone ran toward him for a quick but awkward photo-op.

We were then on the way to the Olympic Training Center. When we arrived, the whole group watched a quick video on the history of the Olympics and the Olympians.  Needless to say, a lot of us walked away from that video with chills! Go Team USA!  After the video ended, a tour guide split us into two groups that were lead around the training facility as a whole. Both groups were able to tour the different sections of the training center and were even able to see some of the actual Olympians! One group had a tour guide named Chase who was the same age as Dallas, was single, and also a teacher! At the end of the tour Dallas was able to get his Instagram and they both followed each other!! It’s basically a modern day love story.

Then we were back on the road to Colorado College where we started practicing for our dance competition. We took a quick intermission to play a mean game of rock paper scissors and freeze frame, when we were surprised and treated with 25 PIZZAS and SODA! After our great dinner, we headed up to the gym where we set up our stuff and got ourselves ready for the competition. After a tough battle, the Dopey group won and took home the gold.  To end the night, we had an exciting dance party to DJ Dallas’ tunes!! After the dance party ended, it was time to take showers and quiet down for bed.

Signing off for the last time! We love y’all!! See you in 3 days!
