Day 6- The Grand Canyon

Day 6: The Grand Canyon

Hey family, friends, and loved ones! It’s the Dopey family again. Today we woke up at 4:45am and walked from our campground to the Grand Canyon before the sunrise. Before we left for the canyon, we were given a nutritious walking breakfast of bagels and bananas. It took about one mile to walk from our campsite to the canyon trail entrance. Once we arrived at the trailhead, we were able to choose from a 1mile hike, a 3-mile hike, or a 6 mile hike.  While walking down the canyon trails we were treated with a beautiful sunrise.  To keep us hydrated and energized we were given a walking lunch of a peanut butter sandwich, a granola bar, an apple, three jolly ranchers, and plenty of water. After we hiked, we were able to finally call home to family and friends! We also got to go to the gift shop, walk around the park, take a rim tour and get some of the famous ice cream that Dallas recommended.  In addition to all of this, we also were finally able to eat the famous Deaton stew! Some of us got pop tarts, whole apples and even a mini jar of honey in our servings.  Although it was made out of leftovers, it was pretty delicious and helped make a lot of us go to the bathroom LOL.  All in all, it was truly such a great day and we can’t wait for more!!!
