Day 9: DISNEYLAND!
Hey guys, we’re back! Today we woke up at 6:30am to get ready for Disneyland! It was only about a 30 minute drive which was nice to those of us who were itching to ride some rides. We ate a traveling breakfast of blueberry or chocolate chip muffins and oranges prepared by the bashful group.
We arrived to Disneyland around 8am and rode three rides as a whole TWB group. These included: Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, and Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters. We then split up into our own separate groups to explore the rest of the park. Some fan favorites were Splash Mountain, Star Wars Galaxies Edge, Thunder Mountain, Bobsled Run, and Space Mountain. Our director, Dallas Godbold, met a Brazilian someone while riding Galaxies Edge in the new Star Wars land. Although it was a short encounter, she believed it was her “Prince Charming.” A few brave souls even decided to ride their first rollercoasters while in Disneyland!
For lunch, many people decided to leave the park while others chose to spend their money within the park. The most popular choice was probably McDonald’s. If it’s not broke why fix it, right? Throughout the rest of the day, some people jumped from group to group to grow closer and get to know others that they haven’t had the chance to talk to yet. To remember the trip later on, many people chose to buy a braclet with “TWB ‘19” engraved on it.
For dinner, people again chose to either stay in the park or leave early to eat. One highlight of the day included Scout Stamey meeting Drake Bell from the Nickelodeon show Drake and Josh. He ended up losing his water bottle on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and ran back quickly to go get it. After getting his water bottle, Scout decided to take a break outside a bench near Splash Mountain. He then saw a guy walk out of the Splash Mountain exit and had a feeling that he looked like Drake Bell. Then, Scout saw his “DB” chain and knew that it was him! He then went up to him, nonchalantly, had a quick little conversation and then got “the coolest fistbump in TWB history.” Finally, Scout made his way back to the group to tell us all about this star-seeing experience!
One funny story of the day includes Bryson and Carter and their Autotopia experience. They waited in line for “2 days” to ride this ride that they believed were bumper cars. Unfortunately, it was not bumper cars. It was simply a relaxed, guided car ride that followed along the track it was mounted to at about 6 mph. Although they were disappointed, they were able to make the best of it and come back with a story full of laughter and funny commentary.
After we all met at the busses and vans around 8:30 pm, we loaded up our vehicles and headed back to our campsite for the night. Tonight we are staying in the same RV park as the previous night. Today was a day filled with lots of fun and energy so we were all feeling a little tired and were ready to hit the hay, but not without singing happy birthday to Maddy and Mckenzie Hedger!! Happy sweet 16 girls!
