Day 1: LaGrange College
Hey y'all! The best group EVER (The Bashfuls) are going
to be blogging for the next few days. We are Autumn B., Erin D., Lyndon G.,
Corbin A., Piper S., Athena R., Wyatt F., Betsy B., Patrick I., Adam D., Olivia
M., Amber C., and Allison D.
After sendoff, we were on our way to (Hot)lanta, GA. On the bus we started off listening to Grants ONLY serious moment on this trip. After that we jumped right into lunch, which was yummy ham/turkey sandwiches with chips and cookies for a dessert. Once everyone’s bellies were filled we played an icebreaker game of “Speed Dating”. People on the inside rows of the bus would rotate down the isles and get some time to get to know everyone. After Speed Dating, we rode out the rest of the ride listening to fun sing-a-longs and some naps. At our fist Flying J gas stop, Wyatt F. decided to grab a fly crawling on a windowsill. The fly began crawling all over him and he created a bond with the fly. Wyatt Ford decided to name the fly “Felicia the fly”. Sadly, Wyatt dropped Felicia and she vanished. A candlelight (head lamp) vigil was put into action to mourn her loss L.
People on the vans enjoyed bonding over name games and bracelet making. Patrick Inman, at the Flying J’s, purchased a gallon-sized jug of water. He said he drank the entire gallon in 10 minutes. We can assume you all know what an excessive amount of water does to the body. Patrick enjoyed the next 2 hours jamming to ‘Party in the USA’ with a full bladder. He happily relieved himself at our first Wally World Trip J. At our first Wal-Mart trip people purchased some snacks, watches and ponchos. We hear that we will be spending a lot of time in Walmart!
As soon as we pulled in, storm clouds came too and we moved inside after Brooklyn Watkins told us about the history of LaGrange College. Shortly after, the vice president of LaGrange spoke to us and we learned that LaGrange would waive our application fee if we applied (Thank you)! After we split into our groups and learned about our different jobs that we will be completing over the next few days. Suddenly, a storm came quickly and we all gathered under the shelter while the Happy group prepared our dinner. This evening, we had hamburgers that were mostly cooked and we all ended sitting and eating with our groups. After dinner, we set up our sleeping area in the gym of LaGrange due to the rain. and did relay races including one leg hop, harry potter race, partner balloon run, and ping pong ball balance. The sneezy group won overall. We finished off with our first sing along...our counselors tell us we will get better each sing a long! Finally we ended our night with some much needed showers after our relay races. The water pressure on the showers was PHENOMENAL!
