Day 8: Santa Monica
Whats up, it’s the snooziest crew around Cali, Sleepy
Gang. If you know who the sleepy gang is
then you already know that you’re in for the best read of all time. For those
of you that are unfamiliar to the absolute unit that is Sleepy Gang, allow us
to introduce ourselves. I’m Scout, I’m Nicole, I’m Jo, I’m Lindy, I’m Cam, I’m Jackson, I’m Isabella, I’m Josh, I’m Ava,
I’m Bryson, I’m Carter, I’m Jennifer, I’m Kenna, and we are Sleepy!
After getting little sleep on the bus ride from Las Vegas to
Santa Monica, we arrived at the beach at 7 AM. Shout-out to all our overnight co-pilots that helped keep our drivers awake and talking throughout the ride: Wyatt F., Amber C., Athena R., Justin T., Maddy H., Chris F., Luke S., Ethan T., and Matt F.! Naturally, we all made a mad dash to the bathroom, only to find there
was no toilet paper to be found.
Within the next hour the amazing cooks, now the bashfuls,
made us eggs, toast, sausage and oranges for breakfast. After breakfast, we
changed into our bathing suits and hit the beach and city for some free
time. Some of us even made the brave
choice to take a dip into the cold Pacific Ocean. It was described as
“exhillerating” and “cleaner than dirty Mrytle” by a few of our fellow campers.
We also had some very competitive games of spike ball (which included Walker
and Patrick remaining undefeated at 17-0).
As part of the process, some of us unfortunately got sunburnt despite
our application of sunblock.
Later on, the cooks served some subs with the choice of
turkey or ham and chips. We then
re-grouped at about 1:00 pm for some friendly competition. The groups were
challeneged to make a chant/song remix based off our TWB experience so far.
Obviously Sleepy gang was the best but the Grumpy’s won using the Friends
theme-song. Since some of us are feeling
a little homesick we decided to call home from a Apple store that was near the
beach and were able to see our loved ones rather than just hear their voice.
Others strolled around Santa Monica to check out all the different types of
restaurants and shops that the city had to offer. This included the Pier Burger restaurant
where you could find the best milkshakes that Josh B. has ever had.
As the end of the day drew near, we found ourselves just
lounging on the beach enjoying the beautiful view of the mountains towering
over the crystal blue waters. Once the clock struck 3:00 pm, we boarded our
vehicles and began the drive to Anaheim, California. As we are settling down at our RV park, the
cooks began to make a delicious supper of tacos. We ended the night with research performed by Haley C., Abbi J., Mackenzie B., and Mary Catherine E. Afterwards, we all climbed in
our sleeping bags and watched the sunset over the majestic Hollywood Hills.
