TWB July 13th 2019 Experience: Day 15-SLC & Bear Lake

Day 15: Salt Lake City and Bear Lake

Hey y’all it’s the Sneezy gang again! We’re here to update you on our travels through Utah and our adventures at Bear Lake!

Today, we woke up to some nice popular Mormon music (who even knew that was a thing?) and then left Dow Jones gym after waking up at 7 a.m. From there we loaded onto the bus and after a gourmet breakfast of bananas and pop tarts (strawberry or brown cinnamon sugar), we headed to the Mormon Church, and Temple Square. We learned all about Mormon culture and the acoustics in their church were AMAZING! Some found it very interesting that the Mormons believe that there’s Earth, a spirit world, and a Heaven. It is very different from what most of us are used to, but we were happy to learn about it.

After touring the church we raided the mall and Apple store. Most of us were able to contact our loved ones and update them on our travels and adventures. Once we had contacted family we dispersed throughout the mall and browsed through the various shops. Today we had to buy our own lunch and almost everyone got CHICK-FIL-A!! (The best food ever J) John and Kent surprised everyone with new haircuts!! John is no longer referenced as “Dad” he is now “the crazy uncle at the family reunion”. Kent looks normal and is still known as the “trouble maker” or “lil brochure”.

We had to be back at the bus at 12:55 p.m. to load up and continue on our way to our campsite at Bear Lake. Grant made an appearance in Salt Lake City to share with us his favorite Mormon raps. (LOL) Before completely heading to our campsite we had a quick 30-minute pit stop at Wally World (Wal-Mart) for the cooks to buy the ingredients for our dinner. We are having hotdogs and mac n cheese!! (YAY for mac n cheese!!) During our Wal-Mart trip some campers decided to buy clothes for the rodeo that consisted of flannels and jean shorts aka jorts. Be sure to tune in on Day 17 to see the photographic evidence!!

After dinner we took a swim in the clear and beautiful Bear Lake. We also had a water balloon toss competition and unfortunately, we didn't take home the gold this time. Prior to this toss we had an impromptu watermelon eating competition between representatives of each group. Ethan Thrower pulled out the W on that one, but Blaine & Landon pulled out the W with the water balloons. Many have decided to shower in the lake due to having to share the limited amount of showers at the campsite with other visitors. Not quite what we're used to, but we will definitely make the best of it just like always!
