Day 13-Yosemite

Day 13: Yosemit

SNEEZY GANG HERE SIGNING ON FOR DAY 13! We’ve got Chris F., Miller P., Nick S., Fiona R., Kennedy M., Mary Catherine E., Maddy H., Ethan M., Justin T., Jessie O., Riley H. and Brooklynn W.

This wonderful morning, us TWB kids were awoken at 5:35 a.m. by the sweet, beautiful, and serene sound of Dallas’ angelic alarm. We got on the road at about 6:30 a.m. and departed from San Francisco. Everyone snoozed back off but were eventually woken back up to have donut holes and applesauce for breakfast before we raided WallyWorld (Wal-Mart).  After the cooks got their food together for the next few meals, the Miss America van departed earlier than the rest from Wal-Mart to go and get the mail for the entire group. Unfortunately, we cannot open the mail tonight because Grant took the bear traps with him and we don’t want them getting in to our precious care packages (L).

Today was mostly a traveling day but we stopped several times. The first time we stopped was to hike up the Redwood Forest to see the Grizzly Giant and other giant Sequoia trees!  The trees were humongous and after a few photo ops, we hiked back down. Once we got back down, everyone had worked up an appetite.  So, as soon as we boarded back on the bus, cooks started passing out our delicious lunch. Which consisted of chicken bacon ranch wraps. Yumm!

A couple hours later, we went under a tunnel and the best bus driver ever, JD “tooted (the bus horn) in a tunnel.”  We eventually reached a picture stop in Yosemite at Inspiration Point. Yay insta worthy pics! After that quick stop we went to see Bridalveil Falls closer up, which ended up being a great picture spot as well!  We could feel the mist off the waterfall!

When we got back on the bus, Chris and Caleb performed impersonations of various counselors, campers, and former presidents. Our favorite impersonations were of JD, Barack Obama, Luke S., and Lauren H. Through the winding roads of Yosemite we continued, and soon got the chance to see snow on the mountain tops, more waterfalls, and beautiful grassy meadows. The roads & cliffs were a little scary because most did not have guardrails along the side (YIKES!), but no worries because JD and our awesome counselors were amazing navigators and took great care of us through the long trek to our site for the night.

Tonight, we plan to settle down at the Mono Vista RV Park. The forecast looks a little ominous but us TWB’ers always look on the bright side, and stay prepared (WoOoO for tents, and tarps!). The views here are amazing, and we cannot wait to bed down tonight underneath the stars after our hopefully amazing dinner. It is consisting of chicken noodle soup, grilled cheese, veggies and hot chocolate for dessert! Cherish your warm beds, and blankets at home for us, because the low temperatures here tonight are super chilly.

Goodnight everyone from Yosemite! We miss y’all and can’t wait to share our pretty pictures and lifelong memories. The cooks are calling for soup so we gotta bLaST!! Check back in tomorrow to hear about our adventures of traveling through Utah.
